Vitamin C Capsules 1000 mg - 60 Capsules
1,000 mg – maximum dosage
For additional daily vitamin C intake, the EFSA states a guidance value of 1,000 mg; intake up to this amount is not associated with adverse effects. This capsule is set exactly at that level – not above it, in order to avoid these effects.
One capsule is the complete daily serving. No splitting, no conversion.
Two ingredients. That is the entire list.
L-ascorbic acid and the plant-based capsule shell made from hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC). No filler, no anti-caking agent and no colouring.
The comparison is particularly worthwhile with effervescent tablets: these typically contain acidifying agents, sweeteners, flavourings, colourings and not inconsiderable amounts of sodium. A capsule needs none of them.
Why synthetic ascorbic acid rather than acerola extract
Depending on their standardisation, acerola extracts contain only around 17 to 25% vitamin C. Obtaining 1,000 mg would therefore require four to six grams of extract – that does not fit into one capsule, and accordingly “natural” vitamin C products in practice usually provide only 80 to 200 mg.
The molecule itself is identical in both cases: L-ascorbic acid is L-ascorbic acid, whether from the acerola cherry or from the fermentation of glucose. We would rather state the actual milligram amount than put the word “natural” on the bottle.
What vitamin C does in the body*
Vitamin C has more authorised functions than practically any other nutrient:
- contributes to the normal function of the immune system
- contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of skin, blood vessels, bones, cartilage, teeth and gums
- contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress
- contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue
- contributes to the normal functioning of the nervous system and normal psychological function
- contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism
- contributes to the regeneration of the reduced form of vitamin E
- increases iron absorption
During intense physical exercise*
Vitamin C contributes to maintaining the normal function of the immune system during and after intense physical exercise. The beneficial effect is obtained with an intake of 200 mg in addition to the recommended daily intake – one capsule provides many times that amount.
A tip for iron absorption
Vitamin C increases iron absorption.* This particularly concerns plant-based iron from pulses, oats or green vegetables, which the body utilises less effectively than animal-derived iron. Anyone following a vegetarian or vegan diet can therefore sensibly take the capsule with an iron-rich meal.
Tolerability
Pure ascorbic acid is, as the name suggests, an acid. Most people tolerate 1,000 mg without difficulty; people with a sensitive stomach may experience discomfort. In that case, it usually helps simply to take the capsule with a meal rather than on an empty stomach.
Recommended intake
Take 1 capsule daily, swallowed whole with sufficient water, preferably with a meal. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.
Ingredients
L-ascorbic acid (vitamin C), glazing agent: hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (plant-based capsule shell).
Important information
If you have kidney stones or impaired kidney function, seek medical advice before use. Do not take together with other vitamin C products. In people with a sensitive stomach, taking it on an empty stomach may cause discomfort.
Do not exceed the stated recommended daily intake. Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a balanced, varied diet and a healthy lifestyle. Keep out of reach of young children. Store in a cool, dry and dark place.
* All statements mentioned are authorised health claims for vitamin C pursuant to Regulation (EU) No 432/2012. The beneficial effect during intense physical exercise is obtained with an intake of 200 mg in addition to the recommended daily intake.

Vitamin C Capsules 1000 mg - 60 Capsules
Vitamin C 1000 mg – maximum dosage in one capsule
Pure L-ascorbic acid in a vegan capsule. Nothing else.
1,000 mg – clearly stated per capsule
One capsule provides 1,000 mg of vitamin C as L-ascorbic acid. This corresponds to 1,250% of the nutrient reference value and is also the recommended daily serving of this product. No splitting and no conversion between capsule content and daily amount.
Two ingredients, not an effervescent tablet
The ingredient list contains L-ascorbic acid and the plant-based capsule shell. Nothing else. The difference becomes clear when compared with many effervescent tablets: these often contain acidifying agents, sweeteners, flavourings, colourings or sodium compounds so that the product dissolves and tastes drinkable. A capsule needs none of them.
“Natural” vitamin C, calculated
Many standardised acerola extracts contain around 17 to 25% vitamin C. Obtaining 1,000 mg of vitamin C from them would require around four to six grams of extract – considerably more than fits into one capsule. Chemically, it is the same molecule in both cases: L-ascorbic acid remains L-ascorbic acid, regardless of its source.
Fifteen authorised functions*
Vitamin C contributes to the normal function of the immune system and to normal collagen formation for the normal function of skin, blood vessels, bones, cartilage, teeth and gums. It helps to protect cells from oxidative stress and contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
*Authorised health claims for vitamin C pursuant to Regulation (EU) No 432/2012.
Also for intense physical exercise*
Vitamin C contributes to maintaining the normal function of the immune system during and after intense physical exercise. The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 200 mg in addition to the recommended daily intake of vitamin C. Our capsule provides 1,000 mg of vitamin C and therefore more than enough.
*Condition for this authorised claim pursuant to Regulation (EU) No 432/2012.

FAQs
How much vitamin C does one capsule contain?
1,000 mg as L-ascorbic acid – equivalent to 1,250% of the nutrient reference value and also the recommended daily dose. One capsule daily is sufficient.
Is 1,000 mg not too much?
For additional daily vitamin C intake, the EFSA states a guidance value of 1,000 mg; no adverse effects are expected up to this amount. This product is set exactly at that level. Vitamin C is water-soluble – whatever the body does not use is excreted through the kidneys. You should, however, not take any other vitamin C products at the same time.
Why synthetic rather than acerola?
Because otherwise the amount would not fit into one capsule. Standardised acerola extracts often contain around 17 to 25% vitamin C; obtaining 1,000 mg from them would require around four to six grams of extract. Chemically, L-ascorbic acid is the same molecule regardless of its source.
Can my stomach tolerate 1,000 mg of ascorbic acid?
Ascorbic acid is an acid. Particularly in people with a sensitive stomach, a high single dose on an empty stomach can cause discomfort. In that case, take the capsule with a meal.
The capsule is quite large – why?
Because 1,000 mg of ascorbic acid simply requires space. The formulation contains no fillers, so the active ingredient itself determines the capsule size. Anyone who has difficulty swallowing can open the capsule and stir the contents into water – it tastes distinctly sour.
When is the best time to take the capsule?
Ideally with a meal, as this is usually gentler on the stomach. With an iron-rich meal, it is also relevant that vitamin C increases iron absorption – particularly from plant-based sources of iron such as pulses, oats or green vegetables.
Is the product vegan?
Yes. The formulation consists of L-ascorbic acid and a plant-based HPMC capsule shell; according to the product specification, it contains no animal-derived ingredients.
How long does one bottle last?
60 days. At one capsule daily, 60 capsules cover two full months.
Who is this product not suitable for?
If you have kidney stones or impaired kidney function, seek medical advice before use. In addition, do not take the product together with any other vitamin C products.
