NAC 600 mg - 120 Capsules
N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine – the stabilised form of L-Cysteine
L-Cysteine is a sulphur-containing, semi-essential amino acid. It occurs in protein-rich foods – pulses, eggs, nuts and oats – but as a free amino acid it is not very stable and oxidises easily.
N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine is the acetylated, considerably more stable variant. The body cleaves off the acetyl group and obtains cysteine from it. Cysteine, in turn, is one of the three amino acids from which the body forms glutathione – alongside glutamic acid and glycine. Of the three, cysteine is the one most likely to be limiting.
Why not glutathione directly?
An obvious question. Glutathione is a tripeptide and is largely broken down into its building blocks in the digestive tract before it is absorbed. This is why most formulations start with the building block rather than the finished molecule. NAC is the most commonly used route in practice.
600 mg per capsule – the full daily serving
One capsule provides 600 mg of N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine. This is also the recommended daily dose, so no conversion is required. 120 capsules correspond to 120 daily servings – four months from one bottle, equivalent to 12 cents per day.
Vegan capsule shell
The capsule shell is entirely plant-based and contains no animal-derived ingredients. It was also chosen to protect the contents well against oxygen – with a sulphur-containing amino acid that oxidises in air, this is not a cosmetic detail.
The sulphur smell
NAC smells of sulphur – sometimes more noticeable and sometimes less, depending on the batch. This is normal and lies in the nature of the substance: cysteine contains a thiol group, and it smells. Odour-neutral NAC does not exist unless it has been coated or flavoured. We do neither.
Recommended intake
Take 1 capsule daily, swallowed whole with sufficient water, preferably at breakfast or lunchtime. Many people take NAC at some distance from protein-rich meals.
Ingredients

NAC 600 mg - 120 Capsules
NAC 600 mg – one amino acid, one capsule, four months
600 mg of N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine per daily serving.
600 mg – the full daily dose in one capsule
What is stated on the bottle is the daily serving. No splitting between two or three capsules, and no conversion between capsule content and daily amount. 600 mg of N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine per capsule – and exactly one capsule per day. That may sound trivial, but it is not: many suppliers in this category advertise the capsule amount while referring to a daily dose of two capsules.
The stable form of L-Cysteine
L-Cysteine is a sulphur-containing amino acid – and as a free amino acid it is rather sensitive. It oxidises in air and forms cystine, a form that the body can utilise less effectively. N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine is the acetylated version: a small chemical protective group makes the molecule considerably more stable. In the body it is cleaved off again, leaving cysteine.
One of three building blocks
Glutathione is a tripeptide made up of exactly three amino acids: glutamic acid, glycine and cysteine. The first two are generally available to the body in abundance. Cysteine is the scarce one – and therefore the one on which it depends. This is why formulations usually start with this building block rather than the finished molecule, which would in any case be broken down again in the digestive tract.
Vegan capsule shell
The shell is entirely plant-based and contains no animal-derived ingredients – no gelatine and no detour via pigskin or cattle hide, as with a large proportion of capsule products on the market. It also protects the contents well against oxygen. With a sulphur-containing amino acid that oxidises in air, this was the real reason for the choice.
120 days, 12 cents per day
One bottle covers four full months. Converted to a daily figure, the serving costs around 12 cents. You need to reorder three times a year, not every month.

FAQs
How much NAC is in one capsule?
600 mg of N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine. This is also the recommended daily dose – one capsule daily, with no conversion required. With 120 capsules per bottle, this corresponds to 120 daily servings.
What is the difference between NAC and L-Cysteine?
N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine is the acetylated form of the amino acid L-Cysteine. Free L-Cysteine is not very stable and oxidises in air to form cystine. The acetyl group protects the molecule; in the body it is cleaved off so that cysteine becomes available. This is why formulations almost always use NAC rather than pure L-Cysteine.
Why NAC rather than glutathione directly?
Glutathione is a tripeptide made from glutamic acid, glycine and cysteine. As a protein compound, it is largely broken down into its building blocks in the digestive tract before it is absorbed. This is why most formulations start with the building block – and of the three, cysteine is the one most likely to be limiting.
Why does the product smell of sulphur?
Because it contains sulphur. Cysteine carries what is known as a thiol group, which has a characteristic smell – sometimes more noticeable and sometimes less, depending on the batch. This is not a quality defect, but a property of the substance. Odour-neutral NAC is only possible with a coating or flavouring; we use neither.
When is the best time to take the capsule?
Take one capsule daily, swallowed whole with sufficient water, preferably at breakfast or lunchtime. Many people take NAC at some distance from high-protein meals because amino acids compete with one another during absorption. This is not essential – regularity is more important than timing.
Why is the capsule shell vegan?
Because standard capsule shells are made from gelatine, meaning animal connective tissue. Our shell is entirely plant-based. It also has low oxygen permeability, which was the real reason for choosing it for a sulphur-containing and therefore oxidation-sensitive amino acid.
Is the product vegan?
Yes, completely – both the active ingredient and the capsule shell. It contains no animal-derived ingredients.
How long does one bottle last?
120 days. At one capsule daily, 120 capsules last for four months, so you need to reorder three times a year rather than every month.
Who is this product not suitable for?
Not suitable for children or adolescents. Pregnant or breastfeeding women and people taking medication should seek medical advice before use.
